Certain medications can artificially raise or lower your eGFR result without changing actual kidney function. Learn which drugs distort eGFR, why they do it, and how clinicians should adjust.
SGLT2 inhibitors, ACE inhibitors/ARBs, and semaglutide can slow eGFR decline by 1-3 mL/min/1.73m2 per year, per KDIGO guidance and trial data like DAPA-CKD.
Standard eGFR reference ranges label anything above 60 mL/min/1.73 m² as normal, but functional medicine targets 90-120. Learn what the gap means for medication dosing, kidney health, and longevity.
Learn how diet, protein intake, fasting, and hydration shift eGFR readings, what the optimal eGFR range is, and how clinicians interpret results before prescribing GLP-1s, metformin, or TRT.
How aerobic training, resistance exercise, and high-intensity intervals affect eGFR values, what the optimal eGFR range looks like, and how to interpret post-exercise dips before dosing GLP-1s, metformin, or TRT.
A clinical breakdown of estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), what it tells you about kidney function, how it's calculated, and why it matters for medication dosing.
Your eGFR score directly controls which drugs you can take, at what doses, and how often your kidneys need to be re-checked. Learn what every CKD stage means for GLP-1s, metformin, TRT, and more.
Learn when to order an eGFR test, what normal eGFR levels mean, how results affect medication dosing for GLP-1s and metformin, and when to retest based on ADA and KDIGO guidelines.
Normal eGFR falls with age; see typical ranges for your 80s plus CKD stage cutoffs and how they affect metformin, GLP-1, and testosterone dosing.
eGFR of 60 or above is generally reassuring; below 60 confirmed on a repeat test plus urine albumin helps diagnose chronic kidney disease.
