What the labels say
- Rybelsus is taken on an empty stomach in the morning with up to 4 ounces of plain water, then nothing to eat, drink or swallow for at least 30 minutes.[1]
- The Rybelsus 3 mg starting dose, taken for the first 30 days, is not effective for glycemic control.[1]
- Rybelsus and Ozempic tablets cannot be swapped milligram for milligram.[1]
- Mounjaro rises in 2.5 mg steps, at least 4 weeks apart, only if more glycemic control is needed.[2]
- With insulin or a sulfonylurea, both labels say a lower dose of those medicines may be needed to reduce the risk of low blood sugar.[2]
Get urgent care instead of waiting for the switch
- Severe abdominal pain that will not go away, sometimes reaching the back, with or without vomiting.[2]
- Swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat, or trouble breathing or swallowing.[2]
- Vomiting or diarrhea that stops you keeping fluids down, which can lead to kidney problems.[2]
