Label facts to weigh

  • Pregabalin dizziness and sleepiness usually start soon after beginning it and are more frequent at higher doses.[1]
  • The pregabalin label lowers the daily dose range when creatinine clearance is below 60 mL/min.[1]
  • Pregabalin can cause serious breathing problems with other medicines that cause severe sleepiness, or in people who already have breathing problems.[1]
  • Pregabalin is stopped gradually, over at least 1 week.[1]
  • With insulin or a sulfonylurea, Mounjaro can raise the risk of low blood sugar, and a lower dose of those medicines may be needed.[2]

Act promptly on

  • Swelling of the face, mouth, lips, gums, tongue, throat or neck, or trouble breathing: stop pregabalin and call right away.[1]
  • Sweating, shakiness, confusion, blurred vision or a fast heartbeat can mean low blood sugar, and so can dizziness or drowsiness, which pregabalin also causes: check your glucose if you can.[2]

Questions for this visit

  1. Can my pregabalin dose stay the same while Mounjaro is increased?
  2. If my nerve pain improves with better glucose control, can pregabalin be reduced?
  3. Should my insulin or sulfonylurea dose change when Mounjaro starts?
  4. How often should my kidney function be rechecked?
