Rosuvastatin and NAD+ precursor: dose, interaction and muscle-check sheet

Write down your rosuvastatin dose, every medicine from the Crestor label's dose table that you take, the B3 content of each supplement, and your CK, liver and LDL results. Bring it to the prescriber before you add or raise NMN or NR.

What the Crestor label says

  • Adult dose range: 5 to 40 mg once daily.[1]
  • Lipid-modifying niacin (1 g a day or more) has no dose cap; the prescriber weighs the benefit against a higher risk of myopathy and rhabdomyolysis.[1]
  • Cyclosporine: no more than 5 mg. Gemfibrozil: avoid, or no more than 10 mg if unavoidable. Ticagrelor: no more than 20 mg.[1]
  • Myopathy is more likely at 65 or older, with uncontrolled hypothyroidism or kidney impairment, with certain other drugs, and at higher doses.[1]
  • Rosuvastatin is stopped if CK is markedly raised or myopathy is diagnosed or suspected.[1]

Report promptly

  • Muscle pain, tenderness or weakness you cannot explain, above all with a fever or malaise.[1]

For your prescriber

  1. Does my rosuvastatin dose fit the limit for every medicine I take?
  2. Does any supplement I take contain nicotinic acid near the 1 g a day the label discusses?
  3. Should CK be checked before I start NMN or NR, or only if I get symptoms?
  4. Would SLCO1B1 testing change anything for me?
  5. When should my LDL-C be rechecked?
