What the labels and TRAVERSE say

  • Jatenzo: hematocrit should not be elevated before starting and is checked about every 3 months; if it becomes elevated, Jatenzo is stopped until it falls.[1]
  • Depo-Testosterone: hemoglobin and hematocrit checked periodically in long-term use, and blood pressure monitored periodically.[2]
  • Jatenzo taken with a 15 g fat breakfast gave 25% lower testosterone exposure than with a 30 g fat breakfast.[1]
  • In TRAVERSE, the heart-attack, stroke and cardiovascular-death composite occurred in 7.0% on testosterone gel and 7.3% on placebo.[3]
  • Atrial fibrillation was more frequent on testosterone gel in TRAVERSE: 3.5% versus 2.4%.[1]

Contact your healthcare provider

  • Pain, swelling or redness in a leg, or difficulty breathing or chest pain: possible blood clot, which high red cell counts make more likely; call your healthcare provider right away.[1]
  • Heart racing or pounding in your chest for several minutes: tell the healthcare provider who prescribes Wegovy.[4]

For the testosterone prescriber

  1. When should hematocrit and testosterone be rechecked after I start Wegovy?
  2. Should the testosterone dose be reviewed as my weight comes down?
  3. If I take testosterone by mouth, do smaller meals on Wegovy change how I should take it?
  4. Does my heart rhythm, clot or kidney history change the plan?
  5. Who acts on a high hematocrit if two prescribers are involved?
