Zolpidem nights while starting Wegovy: dose timing and morning check

A night-by-night record for the first weeks of Wegovy if you also take zolpidem: when you last ate, when you took the tablet, how long it took to work and how you felt in the morning. It keeps the zolpidem label's dose limits next to the log.

Dose limits in the Ambien label

  • Starting dose: 5 mg for women; 5 or 10 mg for men, because women clear zolpidem more slowly. If 5 mg does not work, it can be raised to 10 mg.[1]
  • Never more than 10 mg in a day, taken once, right before bed.[1]
  • Elderly or debilitated patients and people with mild to moderate liver impairment: 5 mg. Avoid it with severe liver impairment.[1]
  • Taken after a meal, zolpidem peaked at 2.2 hours instead of 1.4.[1]
  • Call your prescriber if sleep problems get worse or do not get better within 7 to 10 days.[1]
  • Wegovy delays stomach emptying; its label says to monitor the effects of oral medicines taken with it.[2]

Stop and call

  • You find you sleep-walked, drove, cooked or made calls without being fully awake: stop zolpidem and tell your healthcare provider right away.[1]
  • Took too much zolpidem: call your healthcare provider or go to the nearest emergency room right away.[1]

For your prescriber

  1. My zolpidem seems slower since starting Wegovy: should I change when I take it rather than the dose?
  2. Is my zolpidem dose right for my sex, age and liver function?
  3. Would a non-drug sleep plan suit me as my weight changes?
  4. Should I avoid zolpidem on nights after my injection if I am nauseated?
