Label points

  • About 90% of a pregabalin dose leaves the body unchanged in the urine.[1]
  • Kidney function should be checked if Zepbound side effects could dehydrate you, especially while the dose is being started or raised.[2]
  • If pregabalin is stopped, it is tapered over at least 1 week rather than stopped suddenly.[1]
  • Pregabalin can cause serious breathing problems with other medicines that cause severe sleepiness, or in someone who already has breathing problems.[1]

Contact a clinician promptly for

  • Nausea, vomiting or diarrhea that does not go away, or that stops you keeping fluids down.[2]
  • Swelling of the face, mouth, lips, gums, tongue, throat or neck, or trouble breathing: stop pregabalin and call right away.[1]
  • Unusual sleepiness or breathing difficulty, especially with an opioid or another sedating medicine.[1]

Questions for your prescriber

  1. How often should my kidney function be checked while Zepbound is increased?
  2. Would my pregabalin dose change if my creatinine clearance dropped?
  3. Is my pregabalin dose the lowest that controls my symptoms, given its effect on weight?
  4. If I take pregabalin for seizures and vomit soon after a dose, what should I do?
