Rosuvastatin label points
- Take it once a day at any time of day, with or without food.[1]
- If a dose is missed, do not take an extra one; go back to the usual schedule.[1]
- LDL-C can be checked as early as 4 weeks after starting rosuvastatin.[1]
- Blood levels peak 3 to 5 hours after a dose, and the half-life is about 19 hours.[1]
- Age 65 or older, uncontrolled hypothyroidism and kidney impairment raise the risk of muscle problems.[1]
- Vomiting, diarrhea and nausea on Zepbound can cause dehydration and kidney problems.[2]
Report promptly
- Unexplained muscle pain, tenderness or weakness, especially with fever or feeling unwell.[1]
- Unusual tiredness, loss of appetite, pain under the right ribs, dark urine or yellowing of the skin or eyes.[1]
- Nausea, vomiting or diarrhea that does not go away.[2]
To settle with your prescriber
- When should my next lipid panel be, now that Zepbound has started?
- If my LDL-C rises, will we check adherence and diet first, or add a non-statin medicine such as ezetimibe?
- Should CK be checked if I get muscle aches while losing weight?
- Does my rosuvastatin dose need review if my kidney function changes?
