After the last Mounjaro injection: glucose, HbA1c, blood pressure and weight tracker

Write down your last injection and the plan you agreed, then track fasting glucose and weight at weeks 4, 8 and 12 after stopping, with HbA1c at week 12, as the page suggests, and blood pressure alongside them. The facts box keeps what the label and the SURMOUNT-4 analyses say about timing and rebound.

What the sources say

  • Tirzepatide's elimination half-life is about 5 days.[1]
  • One missed dose can be taken within 4 days (96 hours); after that, skip it and keep to your regular day.[1]
  • In a SURMOUNT-4 analysis of adults without diabetes, HbA1c rose by 0.14 to 0.35 points and systolic blood pressure by 6.8 to 10.4 mm Hg in the year after tirzepatide was switched to placebo, more where more weight returned.[2]
  • Tell your healthcare provider if you become pregnant while using Mounjaro.[1]

Questions before the last dose

  1. Which glucose or HbA1c result should prompt a call or a change of plan?
  2. Do I need another diabetes medicine started before or after stopping?
  3. Should I step down through lower doses or stop at once, and why?
  4. If I restart later, which dose would I restart at?
  5. Will my insurer need a new prior authorization if I restart?
