Berberine and ibutamoren exposure and glucose record

Note the exact berberine and ibutamoren products, amounts and start dates, then copy in any glucose or HbA1c results you already have with their timing. It gives a clinician the facts to interpret; it is not a spacing plan or a testing schedule.

Glucose results you already have

Copy results from lab reports or a meter. Write which test it was; a single fasting value can miss post-meal changes.

Evidence to keep in view

  • In healthy men, 2 weeks of berberine reduced CYP2D6, CYP2C9 and CYP3A4 activity measured with probe drugs.[1]
  • In men with obesity, ibutamoren left fasting glucose unchanged but impaired the glucose tolerance test at 2 and 8 weeks.[2]
  • In older adults, HbA1c rose 0.2 points on ibutamoren over a year while it fell 0.1 on placebo.[3]
  • FDA found no additional human pharmacokinetic data for ibutamoren, so its enzyme pathways are not characterized.[4]

Questions for your clinician

  1. Is a fasting glucose enough here, or would HbA1c or a glucose tolerance test show more?
  2. Do any of my other medicines rely on CYP3A4, CYP2D6 or CYP2C9?
  3. Would you want me to stop one product first, and how would we judge the result?
  4. Which symptoms of high blood sugar should prompt a call?
