Kidney result context sheet for creatine and ibutamoren use
Before a kidney result is interpreted, record the creatine and ibutamoren products you actually used, when you started, and the exercise, hydration and illness around each blood draw. A clinician can then judge the result in context; it is not a self-testing schedule.

Points a clinician may weigh
- Pooled studies link creatine to a modest serum creatinine rise attributed to creatine turnover rather than kidney damage.[1]
- In the same meta-analysis, filtration (GFR) did not differ significantly from control.[1]
- The creatinine rise was significant again in studies longer than 12 weeks; disclosing creatine use gives a result context, but it should never be used to dismiss an abnormal result automatically.[1]
- Fluid retention, high blood sugar and raised liver enzymes are among the adverse events FDA lists for ibutamoren.[2]
Questions for the appointment
- Would cystatin C or a urine albumin test help separate a creatine effect from a filtration change?
- Should the test be repeated, and under what conditions?
- Does anything in my result need same-week follow-up rather than a repeat?
- Which of my products would you want to pause before a repeat test?
