What the human studies measured

  • In a study of 42 healthy volunteers, 40 of whom had enzyme tests, resveratrol 1 g a day for 4 weeks raised buspirone exposure, a CYP3A4 measure, by 33%, and also changed CYP2D6, CYP2C9 and CYP1A2 measures. The authors warn this could alter other drugs' effects.[1]
  • In that 4-week study, diarrhea was reported by 4 of 42 people (9.5%) and heartburn by 3 (7.1%).[1]
  • Of a 25 mg oral dose, at least 70% was absorbed, but only a trace of unchanged resveratrol (under 5 ng/mL) was found in plasma.[2]

Questions for your prescriber

  2. Should any drug level or lab be checked more often while I take resveratrol?
  3. Is resveratrol suitable with my hormone therapy or cancer history?
  4. Is there anything about NMN or NR itself you want me to watch?
