Food aversion and intake record on a GLP-1 medicine

Track which foods put you off, what you managed to eat and drink, and any pain, vomiting or fullness, day by day, so a call to your prescriber can tell an expected appetite effect from a pattern that needs checking.

What the labels and trials report

  • Mounjaro's label lists decreased appetite among its most common side effects: 5% to 11% across doses against 1% on placebo in its placebo-controlled trials in adults with type 2 diabetes.[1]
  • In STEP 5, 11.2% on semaglutide 2.4 mg and 3.9% on placebo reported decreased appetite over 104 weeks.[2]
  • NIDDK lists poor appetite, early fullness, fullness long after meals, bloating and belching among the symptoms of gastroparesis.[3]
  • Wegovy is not recommended in severe gastroparesis.[4]
  • Zepbound is not recommended in severe gastroparesis.[5]

Do not log and wait

  • Severe or worsening belly pain or tenderness, fever or chills, a fast heartbeat, shortness of breath, or yellow skin or eyes: NIDDK says to seek care right away.[6]
  • Red blood in your vomit, vomit that looks like coffee grounds, or vomiting for more than an hour: NIDDK says to seek a doctor's help right away.[3]

For the prescriber call

  1. Is what I am eating enough to protect muscle and avoid deficiencies?
  2. Should my next dose step wait while I adjust?
  3. Do I need blood tests for nutrition or electrolytes?
  4. Would a dietitian visit help, and can you refer me?
