What the first visit may check

  • MedlinePlus lists glucose screening for diabetes and vitamin levels, particularly vitamin B12, among the blood tests a provider may order.[1]
  • For symmetric feet-first neuropathy, the AAN found the highest-yield screening tests were blood glucose, B12 with methylmalonic acid, and serum protein immunofixation (a Level C recommendation).[3]
  • Expect questions about stroke, thyroid and diabetes risk, your work and your medicines.[1]
