What the current label says
- One missed injection, next dose more than 2 days (48 hours) away: inject as soon as possible.[1]
- One missed injection, next dose less than 2 days (48 hours) away: skip it and resume on your regular day.[1]
- 2 or more weekly injections missed in a row: the label says to restart escalation at a lower dose, and the Medication Guide says to contact your healthcare provider about how to restart.[1]
- You can move your injection day if your last dose was 2 or more days before the new day.[1]
- Wegovy tablets follow a different rule: skip a missed tablet and take the next one the following day.[1]
Before you give a late injection
- I use the weekly injection, not the daily tablets
- Only one weekly injection was missed
- My next scheduled injection is more than 48 hours away
- I am not doubling a dose or switching pen strength to catch up
- I have written down the date and time of this injection
Questions for the pharmacist or prescriber
Most useful when two or more weekly injections were missed.
- Which dose should I restart on, and how long do I stay on it?
- Should my next injection fall on my usual day or a new day?
- Is the pen strength I have at home the one I should use now?
- Do any of my diabetes medicines need a dose change while I restart?
- Which symptoms mean I should hold the next step-up?
Took an extra dose or feel very unwell? Get help now
