What the label itself asks for
- Heart rate at regular intervals; Wegovy is stopped if a raised resting heart rate is sustained.[1]
- With diabetes, blood glucose before starting and during treatment.[1]
- Kidney function when stomach side effects could cause fluid loss, especially while starting and stepping up the dose.[1]
- Lipase rose 39% and amylase 15% to 16% on average in the weight trials.[1]
- Routine calcitonin or thyroid ultrasound monitoring is of uncertain value.[1]
- Gallstones were reported by 1.6% of adults on Wegovy injection and 0.7% on placebo.[1]
Report these without waiting for a scheduled visit
- Severe stomach pain that will not go away, with or without nausea or vomiting: stop Wegovy and call your healthcare provider right away.[1]
- Pain in the upper stomach, yellow skin or eyes, fever, or clay-colored stools: call your healthcare provider.[1]
- A lump or swelling in the neck, hoarseness, trouble swallowing or shortness of breath: tell your healthcare provider.[1]
- Heart racing or pounding in your chest for several minutes: tell your healthcare provider.[1]
For the prescriber
- Which labs do you want before I start, and what will each one change?
- How often will my heart rate and blood pressure be checked?
- Given my kidney history, when should kidney labs be repeated?
- If I get stomach pain, which tests would you order first?
- When could routine labs move to once or twice a year?
