Does stress change how semaglutide works?
Semaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist. The Wegovy label describes it binding and activating the GLP-1 receptor, including receptors in brain areas that regulate appetite and calorie intake, and delaying gastric emptying [1]. The label does not mention stress as part of how the drug works or as a factor that changes its effect.
Missed doses: what the labels say
Compounded semaglutide has no FDA-approved label of its own; the instructions below come from the approved Wegovy and Ozempic labels.
The Wegovy injection label says a missed weekly dose may be taken if the next scheduled dose is more than 2 days away, and that after 2 or more consecutive missed doses treatment restarts at a lower dose and re-escalates [1]. The Ozempic label says a missed dose may be taken within 5 days of the scheduled dose; otherwise it is skipped [2].
Stomach symptoms during semaglutide treatment
Gastrointestinal effects are the most common adverse reactions, and the label gives rates. In pooled placebo-controlled Wegovy 2.4 mg trials of up to 68 weeks: nausea 44% vs 16%, diarrhea 30% vs 16%, vomiting 24% vs 6%, constipation 24% vs 11%, and abdominal pain 20% vs 10% [1]. Any GI reaction occurred in 73% vs 47%, and 6.8% vs 3.2% stopped treatment for adverse reactions [1].
The Ozempic label tells patients to watch for persistent or severe abdominal pain, sometimes radiating to the back, with or without nausea or vomiting, and says to discontinue Ozempic and begin appropriate management if pancreatitis is suspected [2].
Does the compounded version change anything?
Compounded semaglutide is a different regulatory product. FDA says compounded drugs are not FDA approved and are not reviewed for safety, effectiveness or quality before marketing [3]. As of 2026-05-31 FDA had received 990 adverse event reports for compounded semaglutide, a number it says likely undercounts, and it reports dosing errors in which patients measured the wrong dose or clinicians miscalculated [3].
Does semaglutide affect mood?
Wegovy's warning about suicidal behavior and ideation was removed in February 2026, and the current Wegovy, Ozempic and Rybelsus labels carry no such warning [1][2][4].
